Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

Bayswater VIC

Roadside Services and Solutions Pty Ltd is a progressive civil works company and 3M-accredited manufacturer and supplier of quality road and safety signs. Roadside also specialises in line marking, supply and installation of guardrail and both Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) and energy-absorbing bollards.   Located at our Bayswater site we have an excellent opportunity to join our team in the part-time role (2 days per week) of Safety and Wellbeing Advisor.

Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering with department managers and representatives across Australia, the Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will drive strategic priorities through hands-on involvement in the business.  You will bring professionalism, urgency for action, and unrivaled technical knowledge, ideally from construction and or manufacturing background.  Your drive to ensure the health and safety of people will be recognised and rewarded.

About the Role

Make your mark on the safety and wellbeing agenda and deliver initiatives to ensure the desired workplace culture by:

  • Leading, facilitating and implementing Roadside’s Integrated Management System, Emergency Management Plan and Wellness Program.
  • Setting clear targets to demonstrate action regarding non-conformance, incidents and injuries, complaints and compliments, suggestions, and observations.
  • Conduct internal audits, investigations, and risk assessments to measure success and promote action.
  • Provide advice on compliance and best practice safety and wellbeing matters, having maintained thorough knowledge of legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Plan and lead the annual SAI Global International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) accreditation.
  • Project manage the implementation of software (WHS Monitor) to enhance safety management.
  • Induct new team members and implement training programs on safety and wellbeing topics, including hazard management and providing monthly toolbox content.
  • Develop safety and wellbeing calendar events to promote productive relationships across the business.
  • Manage injury, illness, workers compensation, and return to work processes.
  • Provide technical expertise in the preparation of tender documentation.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety and Quality Management.
  • Construction Safety Induction qualification.
  • Experience managing ISO accreditations and audits.
  • Occupational health and safety advice experience within manufacturing and construction industries preferred.
  • Confidence to effectively communicate across all levels of the business.
  • High-level engagement skills to coach, influence, and drive change.
  • Willingness to balance strategic lead responsibilities and practical, hands-on tasks to get things done.
  • Sound computer skills Microsoft Office and safety databases.
  • Effective multi-task and problem solve.
  • Available travel to our interstate offices as required.

Payroll Officer

Bayswater VIC

Roadside Services and Solutions Pty Ltd is a progressive civil works company and 3M-accredited manufacturer and supplier of quality road and safety signs. Roadside also specialises in line marking, supply and installation of guardrail, Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM), and energy-absorbing bollards.  Located at our Bayswater site, we have a wonderful Part-Time (2-3 Days Per Week) opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join our team to cover a parental leave absence.

The Payroll Officer has complete end-to-end responsibility for processing fortnightly pay in Sage People Pay and Mitre Finch for approximately 130 employees located in VIC, NSW, NT and SA.  This role is suited to a payroll professional who can champion the payroll function to accurately process and meet payroll deadlines according to all regulatory obligations.  Having the ability to follow standard operating procedures and initiative to continuously improve processes is key to this position, as is effective communication to support employees and managers with timekeeping and reporting needs – first class is the service level standard the Payroll Officer will pride themselves in.

About the Role

The duties of the Payroll Office will be to:

  • Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and efficiently in Sage People Pay and Mitre Finch
  • Collect, calculate, and enter data in order to maintain payroll information systems
  • Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave and superannuation entitlements
  • Determine payroll liabilities by calculating taxes and workers compensation payments
  • Respond to payroll queries and provide exceptional customer service and support
  • Follow and maintain formal standard operating procedures for each payroll task
  • Developing metrics and reports for Director and Managers
  • Calculate and lodge liabilities such as payroll tax, workcover, child support, superannuation and long service leave
  • Liaise with Sage People Pay and Mitre Finch to ensure payroll reliability


About You

The successful Payroll Officer will:

  • Have 5+ years Payroll processing experience in a practical role responsible for all aspects of payroll processing
  • Experience using Sage People Pay and Mitre Finch preferred
  • Certificate III in Business, Certificate III in Financial Services or like qualification preferred
  • Exhibit the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Interpret and apply various Awards and Legislation applicable to payroll
  • Maintain knowledge of payroll best practice and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrate a sophisticated level of written and verbal communication skills conducive to building an approachable, trusted and reliable reputation for the payroll function
  • Apply attention to detail and business acumen skills
  • Manage time and department resources in the most effective manner
  • Plan, prioritise and organise tasks to meet all deadlines
  • Provide a Police background check and undertake Pre-Employment Medical assessment to ensure fitness for duty including Drug and Alcohol testing.

Line Marker

Full Time Line Marker roles are currently available working Sunday to Thursday starting at 6:00pm in the Line Marking team based at Bayswater. Suitable candidates will have: 

·        Relevant knowledge and experience in Linemarking processes (paint, cap, preform, thermo and RPM

·        Hold current Victorian Driver’s License

·        Medium Rigid or Heavy Rigid Truck License (preferred)

·        Construction Safety Card (White / Red Card)

·        Current Traffic Management qualifications to Implement Traffic Management Plan and Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat

·        First Aid qualification

·        Ability to perform physical requirements of role

Civil Construction Workers and Traffic Controllers

Roadside Services and Solutions Pty Ltd (Roadside) is a market leader in manufacturing road signage, engineering, line marking, installation of guardrail, and civil construction services.  Based from Lonsdale and then working out on-site, we have an excellent opportunity to join the team as a Civil Construction Workers and Traffic Controllers.

About the Role

Regularly working Monday to Friday starting at 6:30 am with opportunities for travel, weekend or night work overtime, the Civil Construction Workers and Traffic Controllers will have relevant training, qualification, and experience required to install and repair signage, guardrail, wire rope as well as work on footpath and road reconstructions, and drainage installation. These roles will commence as casual employment with the opportunity to work towards full time employment.

The role requires the ability to complete documentation and interpret plans with effective communication skills to ensure projects are always delivered in full, on time and, to customer expectations.

About You

The successful applicant will have:

  • Construction Safety Induction Card
  • Implement Traffic Management Plan and Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat qualifications
  • Certificate III – Civil Construction / Plant Operator

Manager Civil Works and Engineering

Join our team as the Manager Civil Works and Engineering and lead a professional civil construction team driven to achieve client expectation whether they be government departments, councils, tier 1 and 2 construction contractors or local residents seeking our expertise in:

  • Repair and installation of guard rail and signage
  • Drainage pipe and pit construction for storm water management
  • Kerb and channel works to ensure public safety and storm water drainage
  • Road construction and maintenance
  • Concrete and paved footpath and vehicle crossing works
  • Construction of traffic islands and traffic calming devices

With a focus on setting the strategic agenda and leading the team to successfully work to a high performance culture, this role will partner with clients, coach and develop graduate engineers, engage our team of civil construction workers and ensure resources are available at the right time and throughout the project lifecycle. Daily activities include team management with the support of an administration coordinator, site audits with graduate engineers, oversight of the preparation of feasibility studies, tender applications, generating estimates and quotes, preparation of client communication, project planning and forecasting and keeping Directors regularly informed of progress.

Your career history will demonstrate strong experience in civil construction project management and team leadership. You will have a civil engineering background with relevant tertiary qualifications and membership of Engineers Australia.

You will have outstanding and mature communication skills, particularly in dealing with clients, as well as management and key project delivery stakeholders.  With a focus on service, HSE, quality, cost and people, you will also be able to demonstrate sound project management skills and an outcome-oriented focus, demonstrated through the successful execution of projects within timeframes and approved budgets.
