Linemarking in action

Temporary lane switch on the Princes Freeway

Overview

During the Western Ring Road Upgrade project, Wilson Bayly Holmes Infrastructure needed linemarking services to redraw four lanes of freeway for a one-kilometre section of the road. The lanes needed to be relocated to provide safe working and driving conditions during construction of the bridge widening of Forsyth Road.

Our solution

We supplied the material, equipment and work team to reposition all four lanes of the freeway for approximately one kilometre. We worked in conjunction with the client's surveyors and traffic management to install new yellow lines and RRPMs, remove the redundant RRPMs, and black out the approach and departure transitions.

This gave our client sufficient room to safely install the proctective barriers and proceed with the construction phase.

Frequently asked questions

Can you undertake linemarking in the rain?

No, the road must be completely dry before any application of linemarking or surface treatments. If it isn't raining but the road is damp, then we can use a propane/gas lance to dry the road to ensure project deadlines are met.

Is roadmarking paint a long-life material?

No, several brands of roadmarking paint use the word 'long-life', but this is not entirely accurate. These brands last longer than other paints, but a truly long-life solution requires specialised linemarking products.

We can advise you on the right products to use for your project and location to ensure you get the outcome you need.
