Energy Absorbing End Terminals EAET

Non-gating end treatments are required in situations where an errant motor vehicle needs to be stopped for the safety and well-being of its occupants. The frontal impact kinematics into an Energy Absorbing End Terminal (EAET) is quite different from the kinematics of a vehicle hitting a solid object or colliding with another vehicle.

Following the deformation of the Energy Absorbing Bollard the front axle of the vehicle lifts. This rotation uplifts the front seat passengers who get pushed away from the steering wheel and the dashboard. This mechanism significantly reduces driver and passenger injuries and fatalities.
