Coastal upgrade combines safety, style and durability in Victor Harbor
Roadside Services and Solutions (RSS) has successfully completed the bespoke fabrication and installation of a premium marine-grade stainless-steel balustrade for a private coastal residence in Victor Harbor, South Australia, delivering a striking combination of safety, durability and architectural elegance.
Located just a short distance from both the Lower Murray River and the pristine coastline of Goolwa Beach, the two-storey holiday home presented the perfect environment for a specialist stainless-steel solution designed to withstand the harsh realities of coastal living.
The project involved the removal of an ageing and rust-affected mild steel balustrade from the property’s second-storey balcony and the manufacture of a replacement structure measuring 4.2 metres long and 1 metre high. Fabricated from 316 marine grade stainless steel with a satin finish, the new balustrade was carefully designed and engineered to provide long-term structural integrity while complementing the home’s contemporary architectural style.
Managed entirely in-house by Warrick Stirling, RSS Project Manager – Engineering and Construction, and senior welder Shane Evans, the project showcased RSS’s capability to deliver high-quality custom fabrication solutions from concept through to installation.
The fabrication component was completed over two days, with the removal and installation works carried out in a further day. The entire project was completed within a week from commencement, highlighting the team’s efficiency and commitment to client satisfaction.
While the fabrication itself was straightforward, the key challenge involved the safe mobilisation, transport and installation of the large one-piece structure. Through careful planning and execution, the RSS team delivered a seamless installation with minimal disruption to the property.
For the homeowners, the outcome is far more than a replacement safety barrier.
The polished stainless-steel balustrade has become a standout architectural feature, enhancing the property’s street appeal while providing superior safety and security for the elevated balcony. Importantly, the use of marine-grade stainless steel ensures the structure will resist corrosion from the surrounding salt-laden coastal environment, providing peace of mind and lasting value for years to come.
RSS CEO Craig Woods said: “This project demonstrates how quality fabrication can achieve both practical and aesthetic outcomes.
“The result is a visually impressive structure that enhances the home’s design while delivering the strength, reliability and longevity required in coastal conditions.”
As RSS continues to expand its specialist fabrication and construction capabilities, projects such as this reinforce the company’s commitment to delivering bespoke engineering solutions tailored to each client’s unique environment and requirements.
