RSS adds metal fabrication workshop to its Lonsdale operations

In a significant step forward for its South Australian operations, Roadside Services and Solutions has expanded its Engineering Services with the launch of a fully equipped Metal Fabrication Workshop.

Located adjacent to the company’s existing sign manufacturing facility and civil works depot in Lonsdale, the new workshop further strengthens the company’s core offerings in Road Safety Signage, Safety Barrier Systems, Fencing, Engineering, Civil Works, and Bollard Manufacture and Installation.

The workshop was established to meet increasing demand for high-quality, customised fabrication solutions across a wide range of industries. Roadside Services and Solutions is a trusted provider for State and Local Government Departments, Tier 1 Construction Contractors, Facility Managers, Utility Service Providers, Shopping Centres, Public Car Parks, Sporting Clubs, Local Businesses, and the general public.

Expert Leadership Driving Innovation

Heading up the new workshop is Warrick Stirling, a highly experienced industry professional with more than 30 years in roles spanning maintenance management, project management, and technical trades. Warrick specialises in both structural and stainless-steel fabrication and is supported by a strong in-house team, including a graduate civil engineer, two specialist project supervisors/estimators, an HSEQ officer, and a civil works administrator.

Warrick’s extensive project portfolio includes:

  • Stormwater grates and drainage solutions
  • Structural steel signage frames and corporate branding elements
  • Pedestrian handrails, custom fencing, balustrades, and staircases
  • Stainless steel pool and balcony handrails
  • Automated swing and sliding gates
  • Trailer repairs and modifications
  • Custom storage racks, cages, and workbenches
  • Bespoke security grills, toolboxes, and utility tray fit-outs
  • Bollards, factory fit-outs, and on-site repairs

Delivering excellence at Bordertown High School

The expanded capabilities were recently put to the test with the successful completion of a Ventia/DECS tender project at Bordertown High School.

In December 2024, Roadside Services and Solutions was awarded the contract to manufacture and install five DDA-compliant access ramps and custom safety handrails for raised and transportable buildings across the campus.

The Roadside team not only handled the fabrication and installation of all five handrail sets but also managed the entire project, coordinating multiple trades to deliver a comprehensive solution.

A key part of the project also involved modifying an existing sports shower block to meet accessibility standards.

Despite tight timelines over the school holiday break, the team delivered ahead of schedule, with all components meeting DECS compliance standards.

The upgraded access now provides safer, independent entry for wheelchair users, carers, and educators, significantly reducing the risks associated with manual handling and improving inclusivity for all.

A growing vision for safety and innovation

This latest expansion reflects Roadside Services and Solutions’ ongoing commitment to safety, quality, and innovation. With the new fabrication workshop now fully operational, the company is equipped to deliver tailored engineering and fabrication solutions at scale — all while continuing to serve its wide-ranging client base with the highest standards of workmanship.
