Roadside Services and Solutions (RSS) has successfully delivered a highly customised boundary security screen installation for a South Australia inner‑city residential client, showcasing the strength of collaboration between the company’s engineering and civil works departments.
The project involved the design, fabrication and installation of two large‑scale overhead security screens, each tailored to suit the unique constraints of the site and the existing blockwork structures.
A complex, multi‑stage scope of works
The southern boundary screen spans 56 metres, rising 2 metres above an existing 1.6‑metre blockwork wall to create a total height of approximately 3.6 metres. The northern boundary screen extends 32 metres, rising 1.5 metres above the existing wall to reach a total height of around 4.7 metres.
Both structures feature Stratco Ezi‑Slat 90 aluminium blade systems, powder‑coated in monument grey and mounted on galvanised steel posts and rails. The screens are anchored with 2‑metre‑deep reinforced concrete footings, ensuring long‑term structural integrity.
The full scope of works included:
- Site investigation and set‑out
- Bored pier construction
- Structural steel fabrication and installation
- Integration with existing blockwork structures
- Finishing and installation works
All works were delivered in accordance with SA Government Department Maintenance Specifications, Australian Standards and Local Council requirements.
Project timeline and team effort
Fabrication and early site preparation commenced in mid‑January 2026, with Stage 2 completed in early April 2026.
A total of seven Roadside team members contributed to the project from planning through to completion.
The project was led by Warren Warde (estimator/site supervisor) and Ashish Koladia (project engineer), who oversaw the works from initial planning to final installation.
Procurement and fabrication were managed by Warrick Stirling (project manager – engineering and construction), supported by Shane Evans (senior welder) and Josh Dwyer (trainee metal worker).
On site, the civil works, steel frame erection and aluminium screen installation were delivered by the experienced duo of Tony Abbey (civil works/builder) and Damien Jones (fencing specialist).
Roadside’s National Operations Manager, Ben Dickson, maintained oversight throughout the project and commended the team for their professionalism and the high‑quality outcome.
Local industry collaboration
Roadside Services and Solutions acknowledge the support of several valued local suppliers, including:

Overcoming on‑site challenges
As with many civil construction projects, the team navigated a range of challenges, including:
- Hidden underground services
- Excavation near unstable existing structures
- Tree root systems
- Uneven ground conditions
- Working within a quiet suburban residential area, requiring temporary fencing and careful public‑space management
A bespoke solution delivering security and peace of mind
The project’s greatest achievement was the seamless collaboration between Roadside’s Engineering and Civil Works departments, resulting in a structurally sound, visually cohesive boundary screening system that provides both physical protection and enhanced privacy for the client.
The completed works offer the property owner greater security, peace of mind and a clear visual delineation between neighbouring properties, an outcome that reflects Roadside’s commitment to quality, safety and tailored solutions.
